CK63 cap question....
« on: February 09, 2005, 04:00:33 PM »
ok yinz, i just got my ck63 caps in the mail today and have a quick question, does anyone actually fill out the warranty info ???

if so, where do you send it ??? its not much of a warranty thing, it just says:

'purchased by'

'date'

'sold by'

'type no.'

thanks,

I think I am in the minority here as I know a couple people who have bought the same unit with no issues, but I bought an original unit  that worked fine for a week or so, then got static in all the channels.  The retailer agreed to replace it.  The replacement new unit I received had the same problem so I decided to take it to an authorized repair center to get it fixed (since the unit when it worked is exactly what I was looking for, and at a smoking price).  They had it for 2 weeks, got it back yesterday, not fixed.  Spent about an hour with Sony corporate on the phone last night who picked up shipping for me to send it to their PA repair facility for them to either repair or replace entirely.  They were extremely apologetic on the whole thing and are actually going to audit the repair center who "fixed it."

Bottom line, my frustration is not with the unit, I think it sounds fantastic...it has been the fact that I bought it 6 weeks ago and have only had it in my possession for about 2 weeks.

The comment on the receipt/warranty was made because even though the unit has a 5 year warranty and has not bee available for 5 years, the repair center would not work on it until they had a copy of the receipt with the serial number on it...

As I said though, this is not a normal experience, I know a few people who are friends with no problems with their units, and obviously there are plenty of internet folks who have them with no issues...I have just been extremely unlucky...
