the fanny pack i currently have isn't wide enough to hold the 722 with the 4022 xlrs connected.  if i got 2 right angle adapters (or very very short right angle cables) i might be able to fit it in since the 4022 xlrs wouldn't be sticking out an extra 2 inches on the left side

an alternative approach is to use one of these

http://www.scottevest.com/v3_store/Classic_bk.shtml

have used one for several years with a v3 (and before that a v2).  the v3 works very nicely on end in an interior pocket.  the 722 would work even better since the mic connectors are on the end of the unit.

I understand the break-out cables theory, and was going that direction. I leave my v3 hooked up with a similar set.

What I was asking is if the xlr's on your new deck are too close together to mount a pair of right angle xlr's. You had earlier hinted that they might be too close together.
I was going to suggest an epoxy / hot glue job to the inside of the right angle xlr on the cable, and grinding off the screw mount tabs/ears to get them closer together.

i don't have any right angles here so i don't know.  are they really wider than standard xlrs?

if stealth, either you don't check levels (eg if security is 3 feet away!) or if you do, you lift the unit up to check.  if stealth, i adjust levels during the show very, very rarely.

I ran mine tonight.  If anyone wants 24/96 samples, I can ftp them or do a B&P.

Excellent. Although you don't have timecode with the 722. How you going to sync up?

Planned to run tape out to his camera to have a guide, then use that to align the audio in FCP.
Out of the game … for now?

I've done that and it works. But I urge you to get a slate and have someone call out the different scene and take numbers. Especially if the movie will be cut using the guide audio. Otherwise it becomes a roayl PITA to find the right take with 8 almost exactly similar waveforms (if the actors are consistent). Tell the editor to make notes of which take that was selected.
Just a heads up.
