yep, we tried soundforge and had the same issues.  The system does not recognize the tracks to open them is the problem, even with soundforge.  I'll check when i get home omake sure it is the 6.0 version.

I wonder if it's having a problem with these being broadcast wave files. Can you convert to another format from within the 722?

yes, you can choose bwf or wav in the menu (along with mono or stereo)

Which then begs the question, what format is the file in? And does it make a difference if it is output in a different format? (or is this something that is changed when you setup the recording?)

That was my next suggestion - I bet you have the file format set to Broadcast wave

you want .wav poly

you want .wav poly

If this device works with the channels properly, you could choose .wav mono, and it should then give you your left channel in one file and your right channel in another file. These are just as easy to work with.

Also VERY handy to have is the Fostex utility for breaking BWF poly files into separate files, if folks haven't downloaded it yet, go do it, it is available for both the Mac and PC.

You might want to try using the BWF manager software first to see what happens since the file is already on your computer.

the sample rates include:

   48khz and 48.048khz
   96khz and 96.096khz

why have a rate together with 1.001x the rate?

The 48.048 and 96.096 rates are for some film gear. Unless specifically asked for, you won't use those rates.

722 can be verticle.

I think that most harddrives are not supposed to be run upside down for extended periods.  That may have changed with the newer drives.  Regardless, the drive mounting in the 722 is such that as long as the unit is not upside down, the drive is not upside down.

Other than upside down, The Deva can be run in any orientation.

Inspired by Scott, I also replaced the HD in my 744T with the Hitachi 80 GB drive - after all, if he needs it in his 722, I need it twice as much in my 744T! note that there are two small white plastic screws holding the IDE connector on - you can see them peeking out from under the pink foam insulation strip towards the right side of his image #2085 (the top one is more visible). The case screws were a bitch to get aligned and screwed back in - Scott mentioned the small metal tabs that fit into small slots on the bottom plate and help align the bottom plate, I also found it worked better to leave the two front screws until last. Just like he reported, when I powered the unit back up it was ready to format the new drive, which only took like 30 sec.

Question: How do I crank the headphone volume up on the 722? The manual says it's supposed to get VERY loud, but I have'nt been able to tell. Is it a limiter issue I have to get around?

sorry if this is dumb, but you turned up the headphone volume all the way and it's not loud?

Correct. I can't turn the volume up or down. When "1,2" is selected, nothing happens, but when "A,B" or "A,Bm" is selected, the headphone limiter peak indicator light comes on when the volume is turned up all the way, but there's still no volume increase/decrease.

*edit for clarification*
