Interesting read.  I hope everyone follows this and immediately replaces their tube gear with solid state gear so the price of tubes will plummet and I as many tubes as I'd like for cheap and be happy for the rest of my days.   ;D

I've already fashioned new interconnects out of coat hanger wire.

They are a little bright, but a I'll let you know what I think after they burnin.

he had a few points but I think he overplayed his hand a bit. For example, the Golden Ears section where he talks about certain people having the training and experience to recognize the relatively minute differences in some gear, tweaks etc... imo there is a lot of truth to that.

interesting read though for sure!

Everyone has an opinion...  And everyone's entitled to their opinion.  All I know is I started enjoying tunes alot more when I stopped reading reviews and actually started buying based upon audition.  Whaddya know, I fail 5 or 6 of those tests  ::)

The avi is a Telefunken 12ax7, rendered in hard edges from Photopaint, someone else did this a while back, I think, but I liked it.

The 10 watts is from a SEP EL-34 that I'm breaking in, a N0rh.
The highs from the Rotel were getting to my aging ears at times, even with a tube linestage on the input.

The ASL kicks butt. Don't give it up, or at least sell it to me.     ;D

It is for an office rig!  I have a pair of B&W DM302's in there now, but my dad said I could have his Matrix 805's next time I stop over (he's moving and getting rid of all his gear for a BOSE  :o ).  That should be a decent pairing.

I was all set to buy a Jolida 102a but I found this little guy at the last minute.  A friend of mine who's opinions I respect greatly said this little Sophia amp is a killer (within it's limitations, of course).  The guy I bought it from has another one if you're interested in it...  He is asking $450 and is including an extra quad of Svet NOS output tubes.
