« on: March 25, 2005, 08:41:13 PM »
what do i need to make a super clamp usable?  there are lots of four on ebay that have no 1/4 to 5/8 inch stud, is this a necissity or can i run my bar and mics w/o it?

and does anyone want to get down on a lot of four? i would like two.

one set of four has 23 hrs left on the auction and is at 46.09 usd. there are some others coming up, what would you be willing to pay?
im thinking 15 apiece would be a nice deal b/c there are some for buy it now @ $20.
if you are down for 15 apiece, i wll put in a bid for 60, i dont think it will be hard to find a buyer for the fourth.

still,
how do these work and what is needed to run them>?

thanks...

From the look in the picture, you'd need one of the brass-looking hexnut-style adapters to go into the clamp.... this has a 1/4" (?) adapter on the end for putting your vert bar, t-bar, whatever else. If you do an ebay search for "bogen super" you'll see one of the units I'm talking about up for auction. I'm not positive this is what you need, or *if* you need one at all, but it looks right.

I'd pay $15 assuming everything is included.... although $20-30 for a brand new in buy-it-now isn't bad either!

Well, on second thought... since it doesn't come with any of the adapters (which cost an extra $10-20) I may back off and just buy a new one for slightly more. Thanks though....

Related and FWIW, I just picked one up from DreamMaker http://stores.ebay.com/2DreamMaker cause it was only $23+   I had one that I got from B&H for a bit more that came with the brass hex stud.  The one I just go was a knock off, not Manfroto/Bogen at all.  The stud was not a hex design but a longer double end affair that needs to be screwed down to keep it from twisting.  Kinda disapointing but it is effectively the same clamp.  Want pixs?

Carry on
I have the same clamp, picked it up for a little less, I also have the  flex arm from the same dealer. ITs pretty sturdy can hold my mics with t-bar and shock mounts just fine. Not bad for knock offs but I agree screwing the ends in on it is the best way to set it up.
Dream maker sells all their stuff on ebay too so price varies

nice pics.

i looked at the link where you bought your clamp and the dude has clamps listed as bogen.  was this bunk one you bought listed as bogen? or just super clamp?

using the clamps... clamp to surface or pole or something and do so so the clamp is upside down withtthe stud pointing up.  then use one of those adaptors that goes on top of lightstands on the stud and attach bar and mounts and mics.  is this right?

thanks

Buy one... with the stud and an extension arm..  Why not? in the grand scheme of things they are cheap and will get you out of far more trouble than you will find..
