Hey, so when I import a WAV into CEP 2.0 it puts it as one track. Is there any way to get it to be the left channel in one track and the right in another? THANKS!

What are you trying to accomplish here, Alex?  What's your end goal, the reason you want to have separate L/R mono files?

Well, to nomalize them I just use the amplify feature and find out what # I should set the volume control at to have maximum levels.  Well when its a stereo file, you can only change the stereo volume. So what I do now is do two stereo tracks, pan one L and one R, and then just ajust the levels to the max that way. But its confusing having two stereo channels (where one side l or r) is not being used on each track. So its just makes editing a little more confusing, so it would greatly simplify things to have two mono channels to pan L and R.

Not true!  At least not in CEP 2.1, and I assume 2.0 is the same.

• Effects | Amplify | Constant Amplification tab
• Un-tick the Lock Left/Right checkbox
• hit the Calculate Now button to calculate separate L/R values

And BTW - you're no newb, set your levels properly in the first place and you won't have to normalize!

Hey bitch, the UA-5 doesn't have the greatest meters in the world But seriously, I know you can nomalize that way, but that takes time as it actually does it to the file, using the amplification thing it will calculate the the level you can just set the volume at, so it doesnt take any processing time, you just put the number into the channels volume control....

Of course it "does it" (applies the amplification) to the file - that's the whole point, right?  If you don't apply the change to the file, then...there's no change.  Or do you want to do this strictly for playback?  I'm confused.  FWIW, disabling Undo/Redo will speed up processing.

Help me out...I'm just not getting it.  What is the "amplification thing"?  How does one access the "channels volume control"?  Tried the Help file but maybe it's called something else.

If it's an entire show you're wanting to do, and you really only want to know what the values are for normalization in each channel, separately, couldn't you just select the loudest portion of the show; then use the button on the toolbar to select just the left channel and calculate the normalization value; then cancel that and swap the highlighted portion to the right side (again with the button on the toolbar) and do the same thing?  That would take like no time at all and you haven't changed the file at all (if that's your goal here).
