I want to get a small (sorta pocket sized) recorder to record live shows with.
Are there any good recorders that don't require HUGE mic connections to hide?
Whats a good affordable MD recorder?....are MD's reccomended?
Whats a good affordable DAT recorder?...are DATs reccomended?
Also, whats the best/worst recorder on the market right now?
What I really wanna do is just record live shows, and get them on my PC(hopefully lossless), so I guess there must be a USB connection....correct??
THANKS EVERYONE!!
To answer your last question: USB is not the only way for lossles transfer.
JB3 uses Firewire in addition to USB1.1, which is in fact faster.
And when it comes to MD, a PC with optical in will do the job (but then you most likely need a home deck MD with optical out in addition to the portable model).
If you can live with the slightly more-than-pocket-size JB3, i'd say go for it.
Depending on how strict you are on the size: If you won't accept anything bigger than the front pocket of your jeans, JB3 is out I'm afraid.
Stepping down in size from JB3, the only sensible gear within your budget would be second hand deals on small DAT recorders, like M1 or D100. Others can tell you more about them.
