newb: have iriver340, need everything else
« on: April 25, 2005, 07:12:54 PM »
Hey, i'm new to recording...my only experience is recording lectures with the internal mic on my h340 @128kbps.  anyways i go to a lot of shows, mostly pop, rock, or hardcore shows in small venues.  i'm not sure how these smaller bands feel about being taped, but i think i'd rather hve inconspicuous stealth gear.  i'm planning on recording the shows @320kbps and sharing them at indietorrents.

so i need to invest in microphones, and maybe something that can show recording levels since the iriver if you experts think thats necesarry?  i'm not sure if i'll keep taping as a hobby...i'll have to see how much i like it, so i dont want to spend too much:  75$ for mics, and i have no idea what else i'll be needing or what they might cost.
i was looking at these (lower end) mics:

ps do you tell your friends/anyone not to talk to you at shows so they dont end up in the recording?

how about the luxes?

i say talk, just talk low because there is no sense in going to a show if you and your friends will not dig it. talk just dont talk so loud that it shows up on tape.
