Ninety Degrees or Straight Ahead?
«

I've ended up with some not-so-terribly-good seats at the Greek Theatre here in Los Angeles for the Allman Bros. Band show this Friday night. I'm stuck in Section B, way over to the left. I'm probably pretty much straight in line with the left stack.
My question is: Should I keep my mics (in my Kangol) at 90 or should I point them straight ahead and try to record from the stack? Advice, please.

why the Kangol?? allmans are open taping. I would make a stake tape still using din or xy. never made a stack tape so I don't know what would be best.

I am almost certain the Greek will not allow open taping, even if it is the Allman Brothers.
I guess I should double-check that, though.

My personal preference would be to run them zero degrees (A-B) pointed straight at the stack.

pointing straight at the stack, if you are close can create some really brittle results due to the high SPLs...I would recommend to run XY of iyou are outside the line of the stacks for that reason...a little rejection helps to smooth it out...

It's the Greek in Los Angeles, Tim.
I will try to get in touch with them this afternoon.

that's what I thought but I wasn't positive
Phish played there in 1998 and I never heard of any problems taping...

My seats are Section B, Row H, Seats 25 & 27. Should I even bother??

Run some hypers and you should be fine. The allmans are tape from your seat so bring a small stand.

Id run xy hypers if you got them. They run mono, so you'll be okay there.
