Topic: Can this recording be saved

I recorded a band last night and had my recording levels set at 15( my levels go up to 30).I played the recording back this morning and its way too quiet,i can hear it but its sooooo quiet.I had a bit of a crap experince with brickwalling at another recent gig and was advised to set the record levels to manual.So i thought if i set it to half way ( i tested on my stereo for level testing) which was at 15 i would still get a good recording but without all the brickwalling.Im not the best person for trying to transfer md to pc( i go line in when transferring,its the only way i know) so is ther anyway i could get a copy of thids to someone to mess with without sending master mds through the post as i really dont like the idea of it as much as some people.Cheers

thats normal.. better a little quiet than distorted.. just use an audio editing program like goldwave to raise the volume.

Got it sorted,even though most of it seems to be ok there is the slightest bits of distortion.Also when i transfer it to my pc,the recording has quite snaps here and there throught the whole recording( which was not present on original disc) that i have been told can happen when transferring using line in and not using a usb conection.I dont have a usb plug socket on my md,how do i get a good transfer withouth these tiny but very irratatoing snaps on the end result.Any help appreciated,at least i didnt get any brickwalling with this recording.

I would recommend digital transfers; you'll need a MD deck with digital out and a computer soundcard with digital in. this is one reason many people here do not use MD, too much hassle.

If you're that quiet still, you need to bump your record levels up a bunch when you record your next gig.

all hi-md units have a usb out dont they?? you have to remove that little white plug that covers it (at least on the nhf800)
