lack of low end
« on: May 10, 2005, 02:05:27 AM »
So I just got my rig all together a few weeks ago!
I have been running my SP C-4s DIN for all the show I have recorded so far. some of the shows have good full sounding lowend and some have next to none. ??? I have been trying to make sure to use the same mic configuration but I don't understand why the difference in lowend presence from show to show? could it be the board mix in the venue? also any sugested mic configs that get good bass response?

I think you have a good config for bass... other configs are thought to reduce bass (or boominess...)

are the mics out of phase?  phase cancellation can result in a lack of low end...

do you remember the bass being weak in the PA mix?

Your tapes that have good bass vs. tapes that have no bass - are they like an opening band has good bass, headliner has no bass - or are they on different nights?

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

You've probably already checked this but make sure the C4's mic switch is set to straight.  If you're running the C4's with bass roll off or -10db you will lose the low end/warm sounds.
