Matt,
Some French dude got his MPS-6030 modified by JK labs to include a switchable high pass filter (6dB/octave @ 85 Hz, which seems just about right for the 4061s) and he was super pleased with it. $150 and 10 day turnaround time for him, and he's, like, in France and stuff. I emailed JK this morning but haven't heard anything back yet.
Some might say, Armen, you jackass, why didn't you just buy HEBs? It would only cost you $80 more and it would be an all-in-one box! But I say, nah, I'll stick with the DPA setup. I'm not the biggest fan of Len's inflated prices, although he is a great guy and the workmanship on my CSB batt box is superb.
Also, I think 6db/octave at 120 Hz with HEBs is a little much for the 4061s. They don't need to be rolled that much at ALL, and furthermore, that value is accurate for Sony portable recorder mic inputs - who the fuck is smart enough to run HEBs mic in at a Tool show? Gimme a break.
There would be more adapters to deal with with HEBs, and hey, I want to do something different and cool!
Thoughts are welcome!
