Pulled the trigger on some AKG 391's
« on: June 13, 2005, 02:23:20 PM »
Like the topic says I just pulled the trigger on a pair of brand new AKG 391's. I got a really good deal on them. I paid $752 shipped. I can’t wait! I think they will go nicely with my P-mod UA-5.  Well the Credit Card is maxed out but who cares  ;D

I figured I should have something a little better then some Superluxes for this summers concerts. Although I have heard some good tapes with those mics, I figured I couldn’t go wrong with that AKG sound. I'm stoked!  ;D

sweet you will dig these mics, and very versatile too, just make sure to use your windscreens outdoors since these mics will be much more sensitive to wind noise that the Superluxes were, enjoy, they were my first mics as well

Thanks for the info. I got some Shure Big Ass windscreens recently so the wind shouldn’t be a problem (I hope). I can't wait to start taping with these things! I love that fatty AKG bass. I think there debut will be Panic at Red Rocks if AKG and UPS come through. If not it wont be the end of the world. The Superluxes do make some decent tapes.

Nice score... I'm waiting for my akg 463s to arrive... scored them for $760 plus duties... not a bad deal.

Schweeeeeeeet! That's a damn good price! I was thinking of going that route but the price that www.americanaudiocenter.com has on the 391's I could not pass them up. They also have really good deals on caps too. Check em out!

Congrats on the purchase! When I first picked up a pair of mics, I almost got the 391s. I ended up with the Sennheiser ME-80s, which did fine, but in hindsight I wish I would have gone with the AKGs. Hope you can pull WSP at the Rocks ;D
