Stealthing with MK21 ?
« on: June 23, 2005, 10:05:52 AM »
I've read so many great things about the MK21, I'm this close to buying a pair . . . . BUT, it occurs to me, I haven't read anything with respect to stealthing these mics.  My question is:  Are they suitable for stealthing (in a hat), or is running them NOS imperative to their sound?
Thanks for the help.

Bear in mind that I do NOT speak from experience, but I would imagine running 21's ORTF or even DIN stealth in a hat in the sweet spot would sound pretty damn nice.

I would think they'd be useful up close, like at a cabaret style club where you could be sitting only feet from the stage.  Some clubs have the speakers hanging over the stage and facing down/out into the crowd, so a wide cardiod could sound great up close, even stealthed I would think.

In general, I doubt you'd stealth the MK21 nearly as much as the MK4 or MK41, but I guess it depends on the venues you go to.  If the Bottom Line were still in business, I think the MK21 in a hat would be an awesome setup to use there.
