Static question
« on: September 19, 2005, 02:08:05 PM »
Here's my situation. The last two recordings I've made I have this weird static, mostly on the highs. I've done a few tests at home and could not hear it. I can't tell where it’s coming from. I can only hear it after I put it on my computer or when I burn it to a CDR. I can't hear it when I listen to it directly from the JB3 or when I use my FM transmitter. Could it be I can't hear it on the JB3 because the volume doesn’t go that high or could it be the transfer process from the JB3 to my computer? Has anyone else had this happen? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Harrison

Well I did yet another test at home today. I put my mics right up on the speakers and cranked it. I cannot hear any static. I am totally stumped  ???. If anyone can elaborate on what my problem could be I would really appreciate it.

Two questions
What's the process for transferring and burning (software, editing etc.)
What's the playback chain? e.g. computer cd-rom>soundcard out>stereo system
KM 184 > V2 > R4
older recording gear: UA-5  / emagic A62 / laptop / JB3 / CSB / AD20 / Sharp MT-90 / Sony MDS-JE510
Playback: Pioneer DV-578 > Lucid DA 9624 >many funny little british boxes > Linn Isobarik PMS

Are you by chance using $.05 CDRs and burning at 56x? I seem to remember getting a simular situation using shitty CDR's and burning at 12x or something. I still only burn audio CDR's at 4x and rarely higher.
