Behringer B-2 Pro mics
« on: November 02, 2005, 08:32:42 PM »
I did a search on these mics, and the only thread was 2 years old, so I thought it wiser to start a new one. Anyway, I was thinking of picking up a pair of these just to try them out. They are very cheap at 150 each, so if they suck no big loss. Probably a decent mic and with the 3 selectable patterns it would be fun to play with them.  Just wondering if anyone has used these or have an opinion on them. I'd be running them into a digimod UA5, and out to my lappy.

Don, a local Boston guy, uses those mics.  (on here, his login is "1st set only").  I only see him around at Club d'Elf shows, but just about every show.  he doesn't upload too many shows, because most of the time, he leaves after the first set and ends up with an incomplete recording :)

anyway, here is one of his sources:

(on-stage) Behringer b2 pro (blumien)> Ua-5> Jb3

I'm sure if you get in touch with him, he could probably tell you his thoughts on the mics and set you up with a few more recordings...

let me know if you get those mics and what you think of them.  I seriously concidered buying a par of those when I was thinking of building a cheap rig to leave at the local bar where I often do the sound.  I never pulled the trigger. I just lug all my stuff back and forth.

Thanks so much for the quick and informative reply. That is why I love this place. I'm grabbing some samples right now. If I like what I hear, I'll probably try guitar center tommorow and see if I can't haggle them down to about 120 each if I buy a pair. If I do get them I'll set up to tape my bands practice tomorrow night and let you know what I think.

oh, and here is the link to these mics on MusiciansFriend.com if anyone wants more info on them.

I checked out quite a few samples of these mics, and I think I will pick up a set. There is a good pull of Mike Doughty on the archive as well.  They seem to be a little heavy on the low-end, but other than that they sound great.  I'll let you guys know how they turn out.

yep fer some reason that show (Doughty) really was heavy in the low end. I think it had to do more with where i had the mics and thier config.
they are great mics i bought them originally for the price point but i would have bought them soley on the sound and flexibility. I have a pair of oktavas mc012's that i never use because i just like the b2's so much.

if you want more samples let me know.

Last night was the craziest delf show i have ever seen by the way.
the show is over go home please.

I'm trying to find out if my local guitar center has these in stock, and how much they will drop the price if I buy a set. I'm gonna get them, its just a matter of when and where now. If you have any acoustic only shows I'd love to get a little sample of that. These mics def seem worth the price for the sound alone, but add in the 3 selectable patterns and its a great value. Thanks for the help.
