Topic: schoeps cmc6 vs. cmbi

does anyone have comps of cmc6 vs. cmbi?  BSkalinder, I saw that you posted this was a mono microphone system.  Is that true?  Arent there some cable options which may be used to connect 2 cmbi's and then have true stereo.  I like the idea of the smaller bodies.  Dont worry not selling the Nbox.  I just want more toys. 

I would appreciate any comps anyone can point me to.

since you punks dont fuckin' know i did my own research.  The cmbi body overloads if you try to stack tape nothing but static and background of the show.  I tried them on the jamcruise while i was stack taping up front.  otherwise i have to say, with headphones, i am having a hard time telling the difference between the cmc6 and the cmbi. 

the cmbi is a cool body.  i think i wants them.........next purchase

they have lemo connects and the bodies are less than 1/2 the size of the cmc6.  the lemo connects go directly into the body i have never been a fan of the lemo connects however i like the cmbi.

when running them stereo there is a lemo stereo connector that may be purchased which connects to the 1/8in cable you see here.

If a schoeps capsule attenuator is used i am told the overload problem can be solved.  i am not about to spend the $100/attenuator to find out.

right. so you cant use active cables with them you have to run the whole body, even though it is smaller than a cmc6 in size you still gotta run it

i think the cmbi's are cool but for the money that you would spend on them i feel you have better options out there. You'll need to run an internal battery in those things as well, no? I dont know, i'm just not sold on these cmbi's i dont see any real advantage over cmc6 or cmc6xt bodies

I would say due to the extended frequency response they are a better option for high-sample rate recording, like 96 KHz, not for 24 bit. 24 bit gives you more dynamic range, not frequency response.

But of course 24 bit goes with 96 KHz, don't think anyone will be running 16 bit/96 KHz.
