Microtrack for stealthing, do or do not?

I have some money to spare and i would like a new recorder (currently using MD)
Like posted before, i have Audio Technica 831 mics (and OKM II RS as backup) and a batterybox. I only do stealth recording, mostly in small/medium clubs, occassionally in a stadium. Running 16/44.1 stable is good enough. Be able to see good levels is something i really want.

Should i buy the Microtrack and 2 gig card (what brand? Kingston?) , or wait for something new?

there are a ton of threads of the MT from alot of folks that use them in all taping environemnts, I would suggest you read through those

I used the Mt once so far with beta 1.2.3 firmware and a kingston 4GB card. Worked OK. Start the device on time, then start recording when you want to.
Should work OK for 2+ hour shows.

DO. I was in the most insane pit of my life, and it didn't skip a beat. Freaking amazing for stealthing. I've put this thing in tons of stealthing situations and it's been awesome every time.

A great thing is the clipping meters. You can just check your pocket and see if red flashing is coming out. If it is, then you're clipping!, you can just back off the levels without even having to turn the screen on. Just keep going into the red goes away... Pretty sweet. Of course you could also dial levels without even using the screen at all with this method.

However, I would also look into an Edirol R1 as well, as it suits some people better.

Thanks people :-) It's difficult, getting an MT means i have to get cable's to connect the 1/8th inch from the battery box/or mics to two 1/4 trs plugs. This is something i have not dealt with before...new questions pop up.. what cables are good, how long?

While on the other hand the Edirol seems to have it all in one, enough for me..

Edirol is bigger.
The cable is easy to solder.
Or just ask http://kabelstudio.nl to make a cable for you. Mention the narrow spacing of the 1/4" mono jacks.
One meter or so will do for stealth.
