Edirol FA-101 as a standalone unit?
« on: January 01, 2006, 08:54:19 AM »
Hello Tapers Section!  This is my first post in a seemingly very cool community.

I am interested in a "catch all" solution for my taping projects.  Something that can do everything.  I have seen and read a lot about the Edirol FA-101.  This unit is not only reasonably priced, but it would be able to do anything that I would need (audience, SBD, matrix).  For audience and 2-track SBD recordings, I would want a unit that can operate w/o a computer controlling it (i would use digital outs to connect to my M-Audio Microtrack).  Will the FA-101 work w/o a computer?

Another product that is a little more pricey (but I know will function as a standalone unit) is the Motu Traveler.

Any answers/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Happy New Year!

SP LSD2 > bm2 UA-5 (coax out) > M-Audio Microtrack
SP LSD2 > bm2 UA-5 > MacBook Pro
