Using PS2 or Xbox as playback for 24/96

Never from a disc, but using my modified Xbox I can play back 24/48 over my home network, through Xbox Media Center, through the optical output and out my receiver with some nice sound. I'm pretty sure that Media Center resamples the audio though.

24/48 disks created with dvd audio creator and burned with Nero DO NOT play on my ps2..  they start up, but when you hit ANY function button it freezes..   my ps2 is over 5 years old if that matters..

I always wondered which other things could do my old PS2 besides givin phantom power to my mics
