MicroTrack phantom power and MBHOs

Hi!

I just successfully powered my new MBHO 603A/KA200N via the MicroTrack's phantom power. I don't remember who said this wasn't possible - but it seems to work for me. Does anyone have any experience on if there will be a decreased performance (dynamic range, max spl) with the 30V?

The reason I believe is because the 603A has a voltage converter circut in it that lets it run on any voltage between 16-48 volts.   Hence the 30volts the Micro tracker provides is enough to run the mic.  I remember talking to oade brothers when they carried MBHO's about the difference between the 648 vs 603 and that was one of the difference along with the 603 being transformerless. 8)

Here's something I just taped with the MBHOs directly into the MicroTrack, just in case anyone is interested in how this setup sounds:

Had the mics on my shoulders at approximately 15cm and about 30° each as I don't have a hat for them, yet. The stereo imaging isn't that good, but I guess it doesn't sound bad for my first recording with that setup...

Can you tell me how you got the mics from XLR to the 1/4" connections?  I have the same mics and want to get a MT, or wait for teh R-09, but I'm weighing options.

Looks good, but I might be tempted to get it all in one cable to eliminate any extra areas for failure.  I've not purchased a MT yet, but am getting close.  Thanks for the advice...

that xlr>1/4 looks awesome. Im gonna get a few of those just for the bag I carry with all types of odds and ins recording gizmos

I don't think that is what you want.  You need a TRS 1/4" plug and that is a TS 1/4" plug on that page.
I bought mine from SoundProfessionals but I'm sure such a thing is available elsewhere.

Yea the best way would be to whip up a short set of XLRfemale > 1/4" TRS, w/ maybe even right angle adapters if you are planing to stealth your HOs
