equipment problem.....
« on: January 23, 2006, 12:38:47 AM »
well,i just discovered after an attempted stealth job that i have some trouble.i was running a pair of SP bmc-3 bi's > sp -spsb6> sony mzrh910 himd. i am not sure what the reason ,maybe someone can fill me in,but when i run the mics into the sp-spsb6 (batt.bow w/bass r/o) i get absolutely no signal-nothing. but when i run the mics right into the md recorder everything is fine.-????  i really like having the bass r/o feature in the mix but apparently i am not going to be able to use it. what could cause this-and any suggestions for a batt/box bass/ro that would work??
any help would be appreciated

This may sound like a silly question, but is there a (good) battery in the battery box? That's the only thing I've ever known that would cause no signal at all, either that or a bad cable between the battery box and MD deck.
Right now nothing...in the past: Schoeps CMC6, AKG 480, AKG 460, AKG 414, MBHO 603a, Neumann KM100, ADK TL>Schoeps MK4, Schoeps MK2, Schoeps MK41, AKG ck61, AKG ck62, AKG ck63, Neumann AK40, Neumann AK50, MBHO ka200>Lunatec V2, Lunatec V3, Apogee Mini-Me, Oade M148, Oade M248, Sound Devices MP2, Sonosax SXM2>Sony (mod)SBM1, Apogee AD500>D7, D8, D100, M1, R1, R4, R09, iRiver HP120, Microtrack

well, i feel like a big ASEHOLE. after thinking about the battery question,i dicked around with different batteries and then tried the one from the show again and everything works fine- the only thing i can think of that could have happened is i didnt have the battery locked into the terminal tightly/correctly- agggghhhhhhhh
i couldnt have messed up at a worse time- i lost the entire CAKE show from the HOB cleveland.strangely enough i watched my meters and it showed signal-probably static from the bad connection.
i am sooo  pissed.

well, i knew there was three opening acts, so i called to see when Cake was going on,they were at 10:00.i missed the opening act ( i decided to go later in the evening) there was a comedian between openers, apparently he came out a few times and the only opener i saw was a band with two female singers/frontwomen -i cant remember the name but i think that they are local, pretty good actually.Ckae came on at about 10:15 and played till 11:30. man,i had never had the chance to see them before..they fuckin' kicked ass, especially the guitarist.

was this the Unlimited Sunshine Tour or something like that?
the first band should have been Gogol Bordello and I think the Chicks were Tagen and Sarah??? or something like that - does that sound about right? my friend wants me to go to the upcoming show here in LA primarily for Gogol Bordello, i was just curious how long the sets were - i really have no clue what those chicks are about but they didn't seem that appealing. Always wanted to check Cake out live, glad to hear they put on a good show. Thanks for the info.
