Topic: Can I have your Attenuation Please!

I hope someone can help me.

I have a Microtrack 24/96, and in a stealth environment, I  use SP-CMC-4 - SOUND PROFESSIONALS - PREMIUM AUDIO TECHNICA CARDIOID STEREO MICROPHONES (1/8" Stereo plug) (Photo 1), which I plug into a SP-SPSB-1 - SLIMLINE BATTERY MODULE (1/8" Stereo Plug)(Photo 2). (see supplied photos)

My problem is that with the MT's current firmware, this setup can run too hot at a live concert. and even at the lowest settings, the red clipping lights are ablaze.

I would like to put an attenuator of some sort on the line, so I can lower the input levels. This would be the non-bulky light way to go.

I am unable to find any line in attenuators that work with 1/8" Stereo Plugs. All the ones that I find use the more standard XLR male and Female.(Photo 3)

Does anyone else know of a solution or product out there I can use? Thanks!

microphone madness has em (mm-at-1 i think).... your levels are too hot though? ouch... i am thinking of getting a MT to go CMC-8 > spsb-1 > MT, i might have to bust out my attenuator...

Core Sound makes a cable (1/8 M - 1/8 F)

I think they come in either -11db or -20db

Just like my Sennies.
Maybe you can reduce gain by playing with the resistor of the battery box? (helps with the Sennies I was told)

Thats the one,worked great for me when I was using it.  Cheap too.

Dallman's referring to his mics running hot when feeding into the 1/8 jack - do to the over sensitivity of the 1/8" input...
Part of the modification Doug Oade is performing on the MT's 1/8" input is to prevent this very issue.

Those others use the 1/4 inputs (e.g. via 1/8 to 1/4 adapter), at least that's my understanding.

Thanks for some great answers. Does anyone know for sure if 1/8 to 1/4 adaptors would solve the problem.

I may then go both ways and get that adapter, and I also like the couple of attenuators posted above like (http://store.microphonemadness.com/mmatatcab.html) or (http://www.core-sound.com/attenuator-cables/1.php)

I've got the SoundProfessional's version.  It looks exactly the same as the Ratshack version, so head to ratshack and save the 7 bucks shipping.
