loostening stuck adapters

i have a few pieces of gear that ive gotten my adapters stuck in or on (5/8 > 3/8 stuck on clamp, in vert bar, etc) ive tried soaking things in wd-40, going at them with pliars, nothing helps. anyone got any tips or ideas?

quick picture attached. Exact order is Vert Bar female with a 5/8 male to 3/8 female adapter stuck in it...with a 3/8 male to 1/4 inch female stuck in THAT!  :o

(matt if you read this...ive been meaning to tell you i got an adapter stuck in your vert bar (which already had 1 adapter stuck in it). im trying to fix it...Sorry  :-[)

a friend of mine had a drill bit that was threaded backwards - just put that in and twisted them by hand, and it came out.  Its a bitch though - I've gotten stung at a couple shows because of this.

that's a lot like an 'easy out'. readily available at any hardware store and will do the trick, but it most likely will destroy the threads on the adapters (not the vert bar though)

the jam nut is a better option

Locking pliers have always worked for me. If it's really difficult, put the vert bar in a vice while you use the pliers.

all parts of mine survived... definately do it by hand with the bit though, and not with a drill! lol

Once you get that adapter out, get one that has a slot in it so a quarter can fit in to unscrew it when it does get wound up tight.

::)  I've got one that looks almost like that (only has the 5/8 - 3/8 stuck in it) but I was going nuts the other night at a tool-less friend's trying to get it out before a show.  I think it's time to put a small pair of vise-grips in my bag ... as if I need to haul anything else around.  Anyone have a LowePro Magnum for sale?  ;D

dissimilar metals  try icing it or heating it (gently so as to keep the paint on)

Yup. Heat the whole thing up with hot tap water, then dip just the brass part in ice water for 10 or 15 seconds, then back out the adapter before both parts end up at the same temperature.

ok so i finally got to home depot. i got a package of jam nuts, put one on the bolt...screwed the bolt in, tightened the nut, backed it out, nothing, just the bolt and nut (the nut comes quickly spinning off).  ??? advice? sorry for the ignorance

well, now ive jammed the bolt with nut, into the adapter. i really need a vice but unforutnatly living in an apartment doesnt exaclty afford a tool  bench :P im gonna run down to the hardware store and see if theyll let me use a vice.
