«

What is the name of the devise i see being held up on the sidelines of NFL games to help a microphone capture the sound from the field? Also is there something available in a smaller scale that can be used with smaller mics?
thanks for any info.

Parabolic Mic
Thanks for the info. What would happen if it was used to capture a loud concert setting pointed at a stack or even a soft solo acoustic show. Do you suppose it would eliminate the audience noise?

great directionality, piss poor response (especially in the LF regions). They are good for football games, but no go for concerts...for concerts, cardiod and hypercardiod condensor microphones are standards.

I believe they refer to those as "big ears" in the TV production world.

a smaller version (a nature recording thing) is the Telinga parabolic
kit... Google it. I have a 32" parabola (clark parabola) that gives me a 60db gain in bird frequencies and is very very directional.
