forgive me guys but don't know almost nothing about jb3? (only this that tihs is some stuff with hard drive or maybe even now I'm wrong)

all this electronic equipment with its software is rather completly out of my knowledge (MS windows sometimes also look very enigmatic to me)
and the only program that I know rather good and use normally is Cool Edit Pro 2, which I use to record on computer from tapes old polish bootlegs and then adding a little mastering

but there is no problem to transfer recordings from MD to copmuter for me cause I already know how to do it and results are very good

but if you can give me some advices about jb3 it would be pretty nice
(although I think it will be impossible for my budget which after buying a mic is only about 50$) but if I can get something resonable for that price just let me know

and for now (if I need to put it through analog to computer) it looks like this JVC XM-R70 is the best choice so if anyone knows anything bad about it please do not keep it in silence and let me know

go there for jb3 FAQ.

I was intent on buying a 300 dollar HI-MD with backlight, etc.

But, I found this forum and the jb3 praises and it changed my mind.

JB3's are on ebay all the time, got mine with 2 batteries for 185 shipped.

Save your money and go that route is my opinion.

I wouldnt know anything about MD's except Sony ones.  Glad to help.  Yah, get your feet wet with MD and then you will be ready to upgrade to jb3, which is waht a majority of people use here.

I think any of those would work for you. Perhaps email each seller and ask them about the units and go with whichever one feels safe as far as age of unit, condition and price.

thanks again :D
that's what I've already done and now I'm close to pick JVC

After looking at the JVC model...that looks like a good choice IMO.
Features: Jog-dial on side of unit for character entry and editing. LCD on main body is 10 x 2 characters. 20 bit ADC and DAC. 24 bit calculation ATRAC. Digital and analog syncho recording. Manual recording level control only, level can be adjusted during recording.

and even after you wrote that you prefer SHARP than SONY this quote gave me also very much, I've checked sites and found that even during recording via line-in I can set manualy recording volume
and the seller also seems to be a fair guy (I phoned him and talked a little about this MD) so tomorrow morning I'm gonna hit it

thank you all very much for your help (by now ;)) and specially TheWildKindness
looks like I had to spent more money than expected but also seems to be much better quality recording than I thought I can achieve

now only need to wait until packages will come and start my taping expirience

Glad that I could help. The JVC sounds like a good choice and with the mics you picked up, you have a great starter rig! After you save some money, all you'll really need to do is update your recorder, because those mics are pretty versatile and will make some nice recordings. +T on joining the team.

The Samson's require phantom power 48v.  Church;s preamp only supplies 9v's.

You can get my three wire preamp and use AT mics or my cardioids with it.

Chris Church
I will give you a good price since your starting out or check out SP they make some great stuff too.

Would this work?
Samson CO2's >CHURCH AUDIO  PREAMP > Thinkpad
So you sell a 3 wire power devise that would work with the Samson CO2's.

So It would be Samson CO2's > power thing > pre > thinkpad?

I appreciate your offer, but I don't plan on buying anything untill next month. Do you have links to recordings made with your mics?

umm No i was thinking of the small sampson mics sorry but I can sell you a better sounding pair of cardioid mics then the ones your using now :) with a preamp.

ok I got this rig and recorded two shows dEUS (on 11.05) and New Model Army (on 12.05) both in Warsaw and really liked this job ;D

but on the first gig got problems with my MD, it turned off during the main set (I'v lost one and a half song) and when I changed disc to record encores it was working fine and recording, but when we were leaving the place it was turned off again and all the recording on 2nd disc was lost -> blank disc
but I heard that there are ways to recover if it's not recorded again

and NMA show was great and as my 2nd taping experience it was also great, got no problems with MD, recorded the whole show, and if anyone interested in I can send links to download these shows, just let me know

For mics  I will run ether Samson CO2's or Studio Projects C4s.

Both need Phantom Power
http://www.zzounds.com/item--ARTPHANIII

Now do I need a pre amp with that ^. I will by runing into a thinkpad or a new apple macbook.

Do C-4's. But I like the C-1 cards better than the C-4.

yes, you would need a preamp.

or a line convertor?

mics->phantom->line convertor->recorder      ?  That might be a cheaper solution
