Need a Microtrack with a quickness
« on: April 18, 2006, 12:11:20 PM »
Anyone know what stores sell Microtracks.  Circuit city, best buy, office depot, guitar center???

Any other suggestions for SPDIF coax bit buckets?  The optical out on my UA-5 is kaput :'( :'(
Thanks

If your recording device takes optical input, just get a digital format converter and run out of the coax output.  I've used and like the Hosa ODL-276 S/PDIF coax <--> S/PDIF optical converter.  Cost about $60 shipped from Full Compass (call, do not order online).  No point in spending $450 on a Microtrack + CF card v. the $60 for a DFC, IMO - unless you want to make the jump to 24-bit, anyway.

Are you -positive- the problem lies with the UA5's optical output, and not a cable, or your recording device's input?

yeah,
Positve.  The plastic peice that holds the optical out is all sorts of buggard up.  The cable wobbles and does not seat nicely.

Gonna send it to OADE and have em fix it and add a + mod.  I have a few shows coming up this week to record and was hoping to do the puchase microtrack....record....and return.  Cause "it doesn't fit my needs in the studio".

THanks for the help.

Getting a Microtrack and a card seems stupid. Some places will also charge you a restocking fee. Run analog out or get a Hosa.
