Bulk File-Renaming Tools
« on: May 05, 2006, 09:12:52 AM »
I'm looking for tools to rename large amounts of files at once.  Wondering if anyone else has anything they would recommend.  So far I just grabbed this one:

http://www3.telus.net/pfrank/PFrankFeatures.html

Looks good, pretty much all the features I need.  Any others that folks have stumbled across that they would recommend investigating?

i use CK rename.  extremely easy to use and very compatible with the etree naming convention in how it will insert numbers how you prescribe it to.

I have used a prog called Aren for years.

http://aren.hulubulu.dk/

Great program, and the price is right (free).

I use "THE Rename." Sorry, no link. I like how it can perform a free form rename based on a pattern you type in.
Out of the game … for now?

You might also try Rename Master.  I've been using it for years.

If you're looking to rename specifically your music files (apologies if not), I recommend Media Monkey.
Mics: Audix m1290's, AT943's (w/ AT853 C/O/H caps), AT853's
Power: PS-2, Homebrew 3wbb, SPSB-6
Pre/AD: UA-5 (BM2p+), CA-9100, AD-20
Recorder: iriver H120, H160

I usually use the rename capability of the Foobar2k masstagger. As I'm in there tagging anyway.

Flash Renamer is probably the best I've used.  I rename about 500 files a day for archival purposes and it's fast and flawless.
