How do I identify this source?

I recently got my AT943 / SP-CMC8's modified to have mini xlr connections that I will use with a Church Audio preamp / three-wire battery box. Should I even mention the SP in the source now? As I understand, all that SP does is replace the standard connectors with a stereo mini-plug. I have been listing my source as:

AT ES943/C's (SP CMC8's) > SP Battery Box > Sony D7 DAT

Would it now be:

AT ES943/C's > Church Audio Preamp/Battery Box > Sony D7 DAT

I'd include (SP CMC8's)... The more info the better.

I'd say the latter...technically they aren't even SP mics anymore since they now have miniXLRs, and even more technically the SP models are modified Audio Technica's

So I'd go with: AT ES943/C's > Church Audio Preamp/Battery Box > Sony D7 DAT

The mics you own are NOT modified and never were modifyied, unless you call soldering a 3.5 mm connector on to a cable a mod :) I did no mod's to your mics they are exactly the same except they now have mini XLR connectors on them.

IMO you should call my preamp the Church-Audio st-9100 preamp its not a battery box :) its a preamp. that provides power to your mics :)

Chris - Good point, I'll use the preamp model number.

Incidentally, the preamp looks great. I haven't had a chance to test drive it yet, but am looking forward to it!

You can call it what you want....it really makes no difference, imo.  I think we can reasonably assume that they were SP mics.  Did anyone here purchase theirs from another retailer?

Sound Professionals must certainly think they are modded since they sell them as the SP-CMC-8 and not AT943, IMO. It all depends on the context in which the word MOD is used.

The mics I looked at were not moded at all they were stock. I dont know what a mod is but I am pretty sure its more then soldering a connector on the end of a cable.

I agree with you here Chris.

The only point I am making is that SP modified the AT mics from their original stock connectors and labeled them SP-CMC-8.  :P

I think if he bought mics that said SP then thats what he should use as part of the ident.

Yes, but doesn't identifying them as SP's imply a mini-stereo connector / two-wire power? There is nothing "SP" about them at this point!  ;)

Well he could say sp = exact model number with mini xlr connectors on them.
