CCM4v's with Kwon DIN bar?
« on: May 13, 2006, 07:57:01 AM »
Does anyone know if you can use the CCM4v's with the Kwon DIN bar?  Or does the lemo connector not allow for this?

Thanks for the help

I don't see why you couldn't. The CCM4v's fit fine in the Schoeps ORTF bar.

From what I understand (from Robert himself), they will NOT work with the Kwon bars.   You'll probably need to use the mini clips and a Vark bar.   Should be worth a shot, though.

So.....you won that pair on ebay the other day......nice pickup!!!!!!

Thanks for the info.  I have heard that you can run them on the Schoeps ORTF bar.. but wasn't sure on the Kwon bar.

huh, sorry about that. I do know someone that runs the CCM4v's on the Schoeps ORTF bar though. But if Robert says they won't work with his bars, I'd go with that or at least borrow one first and try it out.

I had my eye on them, but couldn't really justify the purchase......congrats and glad to see them in the family!

I'm pretty sure the Kwon bar and the Schoeps bar are pretty much the same from an "opening" standpoint.  I have one you are welcome to borrow if you want to give it a run before you make a purchase.    Just PM me if you would like it for a bit!

Let me clarify a few things as it applies to the CCM.

The back of a CCMU(hardwired) series cap is the same as the KC5 Cable, therefore it will work on the bars.  So in this case the CCMU series will work.

The CCML series is a completely different design with the detachable LEMO connector.  The kwonbars were not designed for these models and use with them may cause damage to the product.

As jimmyrow mentioned, I have been telling people that the CCML will not work.

It sounds like you have the CCM4V Lg.

So in summation:  CCMU = Yes.  CCML = No.

Footnote:  If it does fit, it is purely by luck.

Sidebar:  Although a CCM-V (regardless of Ug or Lg) cap is 12mm longer than a regular front addressed schoeps capsule, the actual point of capture on the capsule is at exactly the same location equidistant to each other (aka coincident).  In plain english/geometry, if you mount a CCM4V capsule in a DIN kwonbar you are getting a true 20/90, as you would mounting a KC5/MK4 on the same bar.  If you place one on top of each other this will make perfect sense.  *BUT* you're still running the capsule on its side  ::)
