Topic: another mic stand thread (help needed)

I've been looking at finding some sort of universal mic stand that will get me high enough to be out of reach of crowd noise (9.5'?) yet compact enough to be used for onstage/fob settings. My first stupid newbie question: Is an air cushioned stand better in any respect? (I couldn't find any info on air cushioned vs. non-air cushioned stands)

I've never seen this particular stand mentioned in any threads, would this be what I'm looking for in terms of an all-in-one-universal stand?

I run AKG SE 300 b (CK91/CK93) with an AKG KM 235| Universal Horizontal T-Bar 8", highly adjustable
What type of adapters would I need to put everything together (specifics needed)?

I've got a summer full of taping opportunities coming my way and I need to get the last pieces of gear to complete my open taping set up. Any response is appreciated, thanks for helping.

That is a steep price but a nice stand.

I have a generic/ebay 13' air cushioned I use when I have the sweet spot tickets and expect a Huge tree from my stand but really no nead for it every time out.  I would look into the bogen Stacker stands, 3321 or 3322, i run the 3320 and it works out great FOB or onstage.  I really never run above 7' unless I am clamped to something in the venue.

I find a narrow footprint very handy.  Note, though:  even if the specs list the footprint it's not the actual achievable footprint, unfortunately, so the specs aren't much help on that front.

For the price of the 005AC you could easily get two stands - a Bogen 3373 (~$60) for when you don't need the height, nice and low profile, but max's out around 7'.  Then pick up a big beefy stand on eBay, just search for "light stand" or some such.

I have several stands:  2 shorty stage stands, my 3373, and my 10' APIC Blacklight that I never use anymore.  When I need a stand, I use my Bogen 3373 -all- the time.  If I need a little extra height, I tack on the Bogen 2896HD Flex Arm (i.e. gooseneck) for an extra 20".

The base on the 9.5' Bogen can be collapsed down to nothing, if that's what you want. The specified spread is just the maximum. I've been wondering about something like this: http://www.white-lightning.com/ls3900.html It's higher, and a lot cheaper. Seems to have the same, or even tougher construction as the Bogen stands. Bogen is the top of the bottom level of professional stands, but there are a lot of other lighting companies like White Lightning that make stuff that's much cheaper.

probably one of the most versatile stands out there IMO. the legs fold up differently than most traditional light stands, giving you the option to have the legs flat on the floor. it has a really small min height since it has so many sections, and the footprint can't be beat. perfect for FOB or onstage, and will also work great for normal use as well.

I bought one from Russel a while back and love it. I've run the ADKs on it a bunch of times and it's suprisingly well behaved for such a low-pro stand. I wish it had just a bit more height, but if you go with Skalinder's idea with the boom you should be able to get out of crowd noise land no problem. And by the way, these things are tiny when they are collapsed.
