I thought the 3373 only extended to 7'?  If it goes 8-9 feet, I GOTTA git me one.

My 3373s max out at 7'6", fully extended with the legs in the narrowest / tallest footprint.

Bogen 3333, which is like 9' ? I've never run it higher than say 8.5' normally about 7' I'd guess. I'm 6'1" and I have it so with my arm up in the air, I can barely touch the mics if at all. usually 2 tiers up on the stand.

chatty tapes depend more on the jack asses around you yakking it up, card vs hyper, etc..

Just bring Jcrabb66 to a show, he'll stop people from chatting - "Shut the fuck up!"

I'm with Jim, I have the Bogen 3333 and I like it a lot. It's max is 9'...not sure what messing with the foot print gives you. I used to run ~8' but I started fully extending all tiers and have been liking the full 9'. Down the road I would like to get a stand that can max at 11-12' just incase I even need the few extra feet but right now for the clubs I tape in 8-9' is great.

I have that stand and love it, it's great for the money.  Probably about 13.5' closing up the footprint.  Downsides are it takes a while to set up and break down, and it's still close to 4' when closed so it's a bit cumbersome.

I have yet to use it any higher than maybe 8'.  At DMB where there are tons of other tapers, or somewhere with an actual tapers section, I might fly it the full 13'.  But at most shows, I think it comes across as a bit obnoxious.  Taping Guster on Friday and might go a little bit higher than the usual 8'.

That was my first stand...and it looks like it's changed slightly since I ordered it.  The footprint is quite small and it's flush to the ground which is great for taping from reserved seats and you can stick 2 of the legs under the chairs in front of you and only have the third leg to worry about and it's in your own personal space.  The 13' would take up the whole space in your row blocking people from being able to walk by or you'd have to keep it closed and tape/clamp it to seats in front of you.

If you mostly plan on taping outdoor GA festivals, I'd say the higher the better.  If you are mostly doing small clubs or theaters, I'd say a smaller one might be better.  Just my $0.02.

Thanks much for the high stand link. It's just what I've been looking for (especially the $$)

Glad to help...you'll probably want to pick up something like this as the stand doesn't come with any 5/8" threading option which is the standard for T-Bars and Shock Mounts:
