Jb3 formatting? Diginoise?
« on: June 21, 2006, 01:57:17 PM »
Hey all,

Every few recordings I make with my Jb3, there is consistent digital pops and clicks all over the recording.  I first thought it was my optical cable (or Ua-5) but my tests have basically ruled that out.

The last time I formatted and cleaned my Jb3's hard drive was right after Langerado, so mid march of this year.  This past weekend at Bonnaroo, just one of my recordings was littered with these awful clicks.

My question is, how often should the Jb3 be formatted, or should it be formatted at all?  Will formatting the drive keep the unit from inserting diginoise into my recording.  I'm just getting very frustrated and am very close to ditching the jb3 for an iriver or something similar.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Are you sure it wasn't from the JB3's A/D?  You were recording digital and not analog?

I get those noises when recording analog-in and the JB3 is connected to an external power supply.  It's worse if the JB3 gain has to be set high.

its a good idea to format early and often. prevents fragmentation and will hopefully be your remedy.
