The file needs to be shortened and the pitch changed. Wavelab can do this easily with fairly high quality, but it will never be as good as the right sample rate would have been.

I don't follow.  Changing the WAV header so its sample rate matches the actual sample rate of the data does not require <a> shortening the file or <b> changing pitch, and it leaves the data itself intact with no modifications.  IME it sounds precisely as good as if the recorder had written the proper sample rate to the WAV header in the first place - why wouldn't it, we haven't changed the data at all, just the WAV header sample rate setting.

I gave a way to deal with the problem. You could always explain your method instead of being a dick. ::)

Huh?   How was Mr. Skalinder a dick?   Your being a little silly bud.  Your opinions are valid and so are Mr. Skalinders.  He simply asked why it wouldn't sound the same.  What is your answer?

I suppose shortening the file and changing pitch would work, albeit unnecessarily destructively.  I already explained my method, please re-read the thread.  Apologies, I did not intend to be a dick.

How does one change just the header? I've tried various ways of doing that in Wavelab and all it does is change the sample rate, so you just get a slow/fast track with the new sample rate.

  • CrossFit....check you ego at the door
again,  Kudos to Skalinder....(and I picked up no "dick" undertones what so ever).

All I did was change the header so the playback computer (ie. the microtrack) plays it at a selected bit rate.  No need to change pitch...etc.  Only thing needed was to tell the processor how to play it.

BTW.  I did it...and it sounds like it should sound.  (just how I remember it at bonnaroo).

Thanks again all who helped.

I actually work for a living with music, instead of you jerk offs who wish they did.
