Does anybody know what the function 'Continuous' under 'Record Settings' does at a Nomad JB3?
FYI, I run firmware version 1.40.06p.

I checked the manual I found today on the internet (while I bought my JB3 secondhand and a manual wasn't with it) and this function is not even mentioned in it.
I checked Brian's JB3 FAQ, but that doesn't have an answer either.
And Google, forget it....

The reason that I like to know what this setting does is that I ran out of filespace last week at a Live-concert.
My recording was crossing the 3 hours border and stopped right after that. I was stealth and couldn't unlock the recorder, so I couldn't manually force a new file by pressing the FF-button. No other file started (which I hoped would happen) and I missed the last 3 songs.  :'(
Now I was checking the settings of my JB3 and found this 'Continouos' function. Maybe it's the solution for starting automaticly starting a new file after the 1st 3 hour file is 'full'.

Thanks in advance!

MM

Continous will start a new file when the current fills up.

Thanks for your reply!!

In that case it's sad that this function is mentioned nowhere, otherwise I would have set 'Continuous' to 'Yes' as default.
I will check this function this week. If it is does what you say it would be great!

To confirm:
Did a test-recording yesterday with the 'Continuous'-setting to 'On'.
After that in the right bottom corner it shows 3:00+ instead of the regular 3:00 (max. recording time for 1 file).

Started the recording and after 3 hours it says 'Preparing' and immediately after that automaticly a new 3 hour file started.
I wished I knew that before...  ::)

I always use it and it's saved me once  (didn't know how good it was till that show, ie no down time between files).  most shows I tape are two sets and I just start a new one at break.  or if one set I start it before the encore if need be.  anyway at the truckers last feb I ran two jb3's (one board and one aud) and never even thought to check the time (booze and rocking out will do that to ya).  went over three hours and neither deck missed a note.
