Microphone for Video Ipods
« on: July 07, 2006, 10:00:14 AM »
Just looking around this morning and found these two attachable microphones for the video Ipod

Anyone use anything like this to record lectures, meetings, or of the like?  If so, what are your preferences?  I have tried a few and the quality is pretty bad.

These things have been shipping soon forever......The video ipod has the ability to record 16 bit but Apple says that thay are not making any such a device to enable that function.... Belkin,Griffen  and Extreme showed these products months at CES ago but STILL have not shipped them....It all sounds kind of fishy to me.....They used it in their marketing campaign but it fizzled out after that......Like some one (like the RIAA) said "Hey you can't do that...every Tom, Dick and Harry will be taping OUR music for FREE".....This really is a simple issue of a connection/connector.....They just don't want us to have a  hard drive based 16bit recorder...especially since they sold millions.....I would not hold my breath waiting for these products to ship if I were you....I bought the 5th gen video ipod the day it came out and have been waiting ever since..

Peace,
jk

Bump.

This seems to be shipping now:

Did anybody try the Micromemo yet? Is it as good as the site says?!
I'm not buying, but as it has been said before, it could be a good entry-level rig for someone who owns an ipod and wants to start taping...
Reports?

I have one similar to this one and it works but would not be ideal for recording a show.  Memos yes

I have had the Belkin mic for many months now. It has allowed me to grab some music, where I never would have had the chance. In particular when on vacation abroad this year, I got some great local music in South America. The mics are pretty prone to distort in a very loud environment, but once you get used to the high and low settings, I find I like having the option of carrying it with me. In March when I was in NYC for the Allman Brothers at the Beacon Theater, I went with some friends to BB Kings to listen to the late night jamming, and I taped the iPod to the wall above a little firebox and grabbed some great music. It was 16 bit 44.1 sound. Obviously not the best sound quality, but totally enjoyable versus having no recording. ;D
