Best resampling software (PC)
« on: July 08, 2006, 04:05:33 AM »
Hi,

having a couple of recordings made in 24/48 and I need to resample (downsample) them to 16/44.1
I've got Wavelab 5.01b and I know I can make the resampling with it, but are there any better softwares for it? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

i use wavelab 5.01b to resample and use the UV22HR to dither, i like it just fine and its quicker than soundforge and other apps IMO

Thanks for your reply. One more question: What does the UV22HR do (sorry if I'm slow here)? What do I need it to, is it a software or is it a hardware?

its an apogee based dither(to go from 24-bit to 16-bit) ;)

it SHOULD be included in your 5.01b, its under master section

Aaah, thanks I found it   :D
Do you mean first resample and after resampling I'll use the UV22HR?
Sould I use "Autoblack", "Normal" or "Low"?

Thanks!

I dont like the UV22 at all, personally... a better one, to my ears is R8 Brain, which is free from www.voxengo.com It is a VST plugin.

try the two and see which one you prefer. If you dont have an adequate listening enviroment, you may not hear the difference anyway.

My absolute favorite is POW-R 3 # 3, but WL doesnt have it.

FWIW, I did a comp of several commonly used dither schemes.  Give a listen and see which you prefer, or if you even hear a difference:
