« on: August 02, 2006, 08:56:12 PM »
G'dday ye all !

Any experimental soul out there who can advise on this topic ?javascript:void(0);

Are the Edirol's that good ... or will the AT822 just take 'em to the cleaners ?

Cheers

well, you are talking about two really low budget microphones....that being said, the 822 will probably be more flexible because of the ability to position it...

Thanks Teddy ... but I got to start somewhere ... I got another low end mike ..a Sony ECM-MS907,
so I am wondering if the AT822 is worth the investment at this point ..

Cheers,

I think the AT822 will be better for most things since the R-09 built-ins are an omni pattern.  I like my AT853 better than the internal for anything, and only use the internals when I need to record quick and don't care as much about quality.  I like the AT-853 over the 822, they are smaller and give a better sound if you use them right, such as clipped on your hat or glasses, or in a proper pattern on a stand.

Hello:

IMHO, the AT822 is much better than the R-09's built in mics or the Sony MS907.....as it should be. The 822 is a professional mic and sounds like one.

No, it's not a high end mic......but, for the money, it offers excellent sound quality.

Hope this helps:

Thanks gents ...

Sunwizard ... these 853 are discontinued it appears ... were they the hanging type ? Sound prof has a model for sale, a lapel type ...I am not sure if they are related.

New model from AT is U853A & co ... It looks like a fine mike indeed.

Wearing those, I guess you would feel like Ursula Andress about to dive in James Bond ... You do not find the power packs too heavy ?
Cheers

No the 9v pack is not heavy its barely larger than a 9v battery about 2" x 1" x 0.5" and goes in my pocket with the R-09.  I answered you in the other post in lots of detail, see that thread.
