Topic: PDAudio batteries and software

Just purchased the PDAudio CF card, Mic 2496 and Dell Axim X51V PDA from Len at CoreSound. Any advice on which external or extended-life battery I should buy for the Axim as well as the Mic2496. Dell sells an extra battery to go with the Axim-is this one recommended? Also, any advice on which memory card I should buy for the Axim?
Also, I now need the Live 2496 software, but only find an email address for the company. Is the company quick to respond to emails, or is there a phone number that I don't know about?

Yes. I work a full-time job and handle programming and support during my spare time which is evenings and weekends. I don't publish my phone number so I can handle support on my own time. It's also better for my home situation. I do speak to customers of course when they need some help by phone, it's just that I find that my time is better managed if I can work by email.

I tend to respond to email fairly quickly.

I have a similar setup. For the axim, I just bought an extra battery.  For the MIC2496, I picked up one of these: http://www.thomas-distributing.com/PowerBank_2200.htm  It works great and have never run out of power at an average 2-3hr show.  I also use Gordon's software, and it works great.  He always responds promptly for support.

I too run the same axim/pdaudio setup.  I bought the axim to replace a nomad jb3.  I'd previously rigged an external battery pack for the jb3 using a 9v walmart lithium ion battery running into a homebrew single chip 5v voltage regulator.  Turns out that the jb3's external power plug was a perfect fit for the axim's charging adaptor (polarity and voltage were the same too).  Thus, I simply run the jb3 (and my ua5) off of a single walmart battery.  I get around 6 hours per walmart battery when powering the 2 devices (feeding phantom to a studio projects lsd2).  Since i believe the mic2496 requires 9 volts, it too should be able to be powered by the walmart-type lithium ion battery.

Gordon's software is super and his support has been prompt and first-rate.

I have 2 different 4gb sd cards for the axim -- one's a patriot brand, the other's a crucial brand (I believe) -- both have worked flawlessly at 24/96 once I followed Gordon's advice to a) download and install the free storage tools for powerpc card format utility (www.softwinter.com) and b) format the card using the largest cluster size my external card reader would recognize.  My generic usb sd card reader had no problem recognizing the 64kb cluster size (the largest the storage tools software would recognize)
