Topic: MAJOR HISS PROBLEM

I recorded a stand up comedian last night and it seems to be full of hiss even though my levels were up enough.Ive treid to get rid of as much hiss as possible ,but it just adds other noises( swishing)to it.I really dont know if anything can be done with it,which is a shame as id love to listen back to it without it being so testing on my ears.Il try and post a sample to give an idea of how bad it is and see if anyone thinks it can be saved.

I'm guessing for a comedic performance, the SPLs weren't blaring.  So could be a combination of the causes mentioned, but I'll also throw in your gear's self-noise as a potential culprit.  What gear are you running?

At any rate, you might try the noise reduction options in your favorite WAV editor to minimize the effect.  I find I'm more tolerant of NR impacting the main source (the voice) for spoken word recordings v. music.
