That is still considered to be one of the best reel to reel recorders ever made. So why not?

Just because with heightened venue security, I can't believe he can still get it in

I think the most recent show that he seeded was from 2000. 

When I first saw what he was using I thought he had an inside connection.  I guess it is possible to slip throught the cracks in security.  The music he was taping is not typically known to have tight security and the further back in time you go it gets more lax.

That being said, this dude is still a jedi master.

considering that the "security" is making all of like $5 an hour I am sure a few $20's will always help grease the squeaky wheel
