not so fast - you still need at least 4v and 1 ma source to power the capsuls

this could make the schoeps much more handy for stealth taping...

yep - the wonderful thing you can power it with low cost box and go directly to unbalance mic inputs you have on edirol or similar , i imagine they dont suply 5 v   to power the capsule directly

the sonasax  with these 2 could really make very small rig since it has bias  microphone input .

You can already run a sonosax directly to the KCY to mics.  I was thinking people could build a battery box for under $100 that would power these without a problem.

i dont remeber if the 82 has high voltage directly for the capsules ( or you are talking about the preamp?)
but it sertanly has bias mic input .
the power  capsules takes  are about 10% or less then with usial cmc settings  and that is quit important for recorder battery life .
especially with schoepses which pull almost half watt per hour for a couple of cmc 5

not to mention , you can use phantom suply for converting it  to bias for recorders as zoom h-4 or m-audio .
allot of good opportunities to use it in that configuration
ill certainly would take a couple when these would be available , mainly for wireless film work( i run 400 lectros and zaxcom transmitters) , but also sertanly for extra small rig for tapping .
just hope they did it rf proof enouth .

I thought you were referring to the Sonosax SX-m2/LS2, I forgot about the 82.  Now if   I only had several thousand $$.

I think a homemade battery box > R-09 would be great with these as a start.

Okay, I understand it now.  It is the active part and the cable only.  Schoeps makes the output connector custom fitted to the customer's transmitter pack.  So if there is a way to make a small stereo power pack (like the DPA battery packs MPS60X0) then this will be great with a mic and line modded SBM > H120.  I just sent Schoeps a question about terminating them to microdot ends, just to see if they have the ability to work with those little ends.  I guess you could request like a mini-xlr to go with those three-wire battery boxes everyone was so keen on a while back for their AT853 and AT943s.

I do NOT think this will help for the SonoSax miniR82, since that only does 3.3V or phantom, it can't run the Schoeps active cables and it won't do 4V for this, though I guess it might sorta work if the specs are very lenient.  Size-wise, the CMR plus MK cap look around the same as the CCM series, and I think the MiniR82 will run those on standard phantom power.  I'll know that for sure by the end of the month.

Interesting product.. I'd really like to know how the circuit works.. but I'm guessing schoeps has a custom IC in there.

Reply from Schoeps:

keine interne Batterie gibt.

Auslieferungstart
wird ca. Frühjahr 2007 sein.

Freundliche Grüße

Bernhard Vollmer
SCHOEPS GmbH

Short translation:

-The CMR is the small pendant to the CMBI but without a battery.
Active accessory can not be used. Only the mentioned capsules.

-Cable length of up to 20m won´t be a problem.

-The CMR was originally developed for the Adudio TXiR. We will test
other mfg´s and officially approve then in the near future.

-A detachable cable was in discussion but the idea was dropped
because it would have made the CMR way more expensive. In the future
we might release a version with a dcetachable cable if customers want
it.

-The price for the CMR will be released when the part is delivered
spring 2007
