patching w/ mp3 source
« on: December 30, 2006, 11:17:01 PM »
ok, the other weekend i pulled stupid move #87391. started jb3 in mp3 mode for the second set. i did run a dat back-up, so i figured all would be well. unfortunately it looks like time to clean the heads as i had a dropout, about 1/2 a second in that set.

just looking for opinions on using the mp3 source. it's just to fill in the gap and would be noted. there's a couple other sources but no one's upped to lma yet and i was asked to do so and said i would if no one else did. also if i do, do i need to do it to the master or can i just patch the track w/ out causing sbes?

did the dropout happen in both channels at the same time?
if not you can always take a peice of the other channel and paste it on the dropout channel

yep both channels otherwise that's what i would've done.

it's only 1/2 sec, but still annoying, to me anyway. also why i was wondering how big a deal it would be to have the 2 sec or so cross faded in.

IMO, not a big deal if you cross fade in two seconds worth of lossy-sourced material.  Done right, it will be a lot better to listen to it that way than with an ugly dropout.  It's not as if the lossy material is an infection that will spread through the rest of the track.
