Hey everyone...

Now that I'm living in a place where it's RARE to find a band I'd like to go see much less record (yeah, like Albuquerque had a decent music scene but at least Phoenix and Denver weren't THAT far away) but then again Eric Clapton did visit Bangkok this week (which I recorded on digital camera  ::) with mixed results).... I'd like to get into some quality recording.

I have recorded some shows in the (distant) past -- using various (really bad) Walkman-style cassette recorders with built-in condenser mics -- and I've tended to rely on other tapers for my attended-show "souvenirs" via trades & downloads.

But I recently purchased an iriver H120 (available dirt cheap here in the Land of Smiles) and read about the recording capabilities with the Rockbox firmware installed.

...And, the Phuket International Blues Festival is happening next month with some tasty-sounding bands just up the road from my home.

Enough of the intro... on to the question:

I've found this setup on eBay:
Church Audio B-99A Professional binaural Stereo omnidirectional Microphones and Stereo microphone preamp ST-20A
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260054111491&rd=1&rd=1

Has anybody here had experience with this, or a similar Church Audio setup?  Any tips/recommendations/cons with using this with the iriver H120?  Will I need to add anything else to make some decent recordings?

Caveat:  This being my first "real" setup and my not having money to burn right now makes the budget really the most important thing -- I realize that I will eventually want to upgrade the mics, but I'd like to try and capture some local bar bands and perhaps a few Thai traditional music fairs...

Well, I look forward to your professional/experienced help!

(Anything has got to be better than my past recordings -- at least my Clapton video recording on the digital camera came out reasonably listenable, except for a "holy shit" after a great solo in "Little Wing"!)

Although I dont personally own anything of his, consensus is that he makes great recording gear.   I'm sure he will find this thread and be happy to answer any questions you may have about his equipment.  Welcome aboard!

Take a look at this offer Chris has - more than what you were looking at, but I think you might like it better.
