CD burning and XP question
« on: October 12, 2003, 04:04:55 PM »
I just installed Windows XP onto my machine. I have a 4x TEAC cdrw drive. My quesion is... is there a way to make the drive work. From what I understand now the drive isnt compatible with XP. I have tried using Fuerio and have had no success.

Stank, I had the same problem when I upgraded to XP. My cdrw drive wasn't compatible and I never could get it to work.

I'd recommend buying a new drive. You can get one pretty cheap and when all is said and done you'll be a lot happier without your slow 4x drive.

I upgraded to a 52x Lite-On and couldn't be happier. The time you save with the faster burner will be worth the $ you have to spend.

yes I did end up ordering a 52X. I also downloaded the demo version of Nero and it works like a charm with the 4x so I guess it wasnt the drive. I have a keygen for Nero but the demo version wont let you enter in a serial number. Is there anywhere to fine a non demo version? It was easy cd creator that wouldnt work. Does Fuerio have XP compatibility issues for anyone else? After burning at 4x for almost three years this 52x drive will be like  dowloading off of dsl which I still don't have in my area. bunk

Not that I would condone such things ;). But you should enter the serial number in under the Help menu up top. Otherwise it will not work.

huh?
I've used all, been a fairly die hard win2000pro user for a few years. I just put XP pro on my laptop and I really like it. I use XP home at home and it's ok. But XPpro is pretty sweet. I hope to make the switch to Mac and OSX very soon.

i myself am a fan of xp pro, i wouldn't upgrade from 2k for the longest time tho cuz i thought xp was too "cutesy" but once i figured out how to make it look like normal it wasn't so bad.

as for stability, i can't say much, i've crashed every OS i've ever had dozens of times, and xp is no exception.  however,  i push my computer a lot more now than i did when i was 3.1 or win95, so i don't know who's to blame.

Interesting.  Win98 is probably the biggest POS Windows release I've ever used going back to 3.1.

It would, but I've never used ME.  From what I've heard, it's probably true:  ME sucks big one, 98 sucks just a little less.
