hey im thinking about getting into this and all i've really got right now is a ipod so i've been thinking about buying the belkin tunetalk. What do you guys think of this, or do you recommend some other thing i could get for a relatively low cost.

If you are on a budget you might want to consider parching for a while. You could probably sell the ipod and buy an IRIVER H120. You could patch with it, and you would stil have an MP3 Player.

have you all had a lot of good experiences with the iriver?

I love the iRiver with the rockbox firmware.  It is just plain awesome.

As far as mics and a pre go, you might want to try Chris Church's setup he's offering here at a great price.

Just clip them to your hat or collar or shirt

I also have a croakie option that allows you to mount them on your eye glasses if you wear them if not you can always get fake ones :) they tend to make people look sophisticated :) That option is on sale too. Its $15.00 for the croakie option for these mics.

Pm me if your interested.

If your laptop soundcard has a line input yes. If it just has a mic input No. I would get a good card for your lappy. I like most of the products by m-audio.

You would be better off with the iriver then a laptop at least with the iriver you can record anywhere.
