Decent mixer for live matrix
« on: January 31, 2007, 01:14:59 PM »
I'd like to pick one of these up, but I don't know which model to get. I assume I'll use the phantom off my V3 to power the mk4s, then run from the analog outs to the mixer. Then I guess I'll run the other lines from the sbd to the mixer. Mix down to two tracks and out to my hdp2 on the analog in. I'd prefer for the mixer to have a nice selection of xlr in jacks. Any help is apreciated.

I'd like to pick one of these up, but I don't know which model to get.

Here are a few you can put on your list:

Wendt X4/X5 : http://wendtinc.net/
SQN 4S: http://www.sqn.co.uk/pdf/4SMspec.pdf
Cooper CS 104: http://www.coopersound.com/cs104.htm
Sound Devices 442: http://www.sounddevices.com/products/442master.htm

There are more.... FilmTech makes a nice one (or use to, I'm not sure it is still being made). All of these run on batteries, but none of them have delays, so your sources won't be in perfect sync and you'll have some echo. This isn't problem in smaller venues, but in larger places, or outside, this can cause you problems.

Before the Deva, I use to own the Wendt X2, then the Wendt X4.

(I forgot about one... Sony has released a 4 channel mixer that has a A/D converter built-in, so you can not only mix but use it as a A/D. Look for the Sony DMX-P01).
