Iriver H120 Question...Again
« on: February 08, 2007, 09:28:49 AM »
Ok. So last night I recorded Dirty Dozen Brass Band.  I just began to listen to it a work and its high speed :o  Crap I thought.  So i look at the the recording screen and I can't figure out what is wrong.  Anyone have any comments on this?  Any questions?  Solutions?  If you need more info, let me know what you need.

Just resample it to 44.1.  This has happened to me many times running UA-5> optical> h120, probably a badly-seated optical cable that recorded the show at some weird frequency.

I would try changing the header info using something like CDWav first. What sample rate did you record at?

I had this happen to me at a Black Crowes show over the summer.. I realized what I did was hit record, then unplugged the optical cable (why, I dont know) then when I plugged it in it grabbed a different sample rate. It recorded at 64 instead of 44.1. So it was like the chipmunks invaded theshow.. I had the optical out running into another h120 and that one was fine, so it recorded fast, but passed thru the optical signal with no problems...
your milage may vary.

Resampling won't work, as it'll just convert the speeded up file to 44.1

You need to change the header...

How do I do this in rockbox?

i have recorded shows and the files do not work, bad codec message.

the header is just the title of the .wav - correct?

CDwav can be d/l online - correct?

So I pulled up one of the files in CD Wave and it was recorded in 64.  I'm not sure how to change the header.  I'll try and figure it out.

Resampling won't work, as it'll just convert the speeded up file to 44.1

...which will put it back to it's intended recording speed.  This has happened to me several times.

So I pulled up one of the files in CD Wave and it was recorded in 64.  I'm not sure how to change the header.  I'll try and figure it out.

If it opened without an error message in CDWAv the problem isn't with the header.
But, to change the sample, bit rate, choose SAVE and change the parameters to 44.1 kHz, 16 bit PCM WAV if you want to burn it to CD.

So do NOT resample but open it in an editor of your choice and set the samplerate to what it should be. If that won't work, import as RAW data.

So who is correct?
 Option A:  Resample from 64 to 44.1

Option B:  Go into an "editor" and change the file type from 64 to 44.1.

On option B, I use Soundforge 8.  I did pull up the file in CD Wave and the option to change it from 64 to 44.1 is not a valid option, I was unable to change it.  So in Soundforge 8 where do I go to change the file type from 64 to 44.1?

When you say "64" are you talking about a 64 kbps MP3? Your Iriver can't record at 64 bits  or 64 kHz  ???
