R-09 Ver.1.20 -
Anyone try it yet?
Especially curious if anyone has had sucess using cards larger than the officially supported 4GB max with this update? Setting the max file size to 2GB could make 8GB or larger cards viable. I need a second card and would consider an 8GB one if they function correctly. I don't want to accidentally produce hundreds of 1KB file'ts though.
Ver.1.20 changes:
Repair Files (Repair)
A file repair feature has been added. It repairs files that cannot be played because an accident occurred during recording; for example, an adaptor was mistakenly unplugged or a card was removed.
When the R-09 detects a damaged file, the “Repair” Menu is shown in the finder.
This menu is displayed only when the R-09 detects a damaged song.
...Even if repaired, up to five seconds at the end of the file may be
deleted. Also, this feature cannot repair all files...
Cool. I have some of these I have not tired to recover yet using the methods outlined in other posts. Time to upload them back to the recorder and give it a shot after I update.
Max File Size
Sets a limit on the size of the file generated during recording.
Use this to prevent long MP3 recordings from becoming too large to be read by some software, after the data has been converted to WAV. When the song being recording reaches the specified size limit, the R-09 closes that file and continues the recording in a new file.
I assume it works with either WAV or MP3 files. My files are usually 1.5GB or so max so 2GB would be fine, but a 4GB option would be nice considering the larger cards now available.
Peak Hold
Sets peak hold for the Level Meter. When peak hold is ON, the highest value for the input signal
is held and displayed for a set period.
Nice. I'll check this out.
Rec/Peak LED
Links the [REC Indicator] and [PEAK Indicator] to the Display Timer settings. When the display
goes dark, the [REC Indicator] and [PEAK Indicator] are also turned off.
Too bad it turns of the peak indicatior too. I'd prefer a separate menu switch to just kill the REC indicator only. The peak light is actually useful.
