New here, help with rig setup please!
« on: March 25, 2007, 07:58:02 PM »
hi!first post time for me...
my name is simon, i´m a 26 y. o. musician from germany. i own an iriver h320 (rockboxed) and want to use it to tape some shows (my own and friends´ and musicians´way better than myself...) aswell as rehearsals, lessons...
i´ll probably buy the smk4061 stereo mic set by dpa later this year for professional use. i´ll use it to pick up the grand piano , for vocals and my guitar aswell, the thing sounds amazing with all these! now i´ve read in different forums, that those make quite good stealth mics for recording shows, so i think i´ll give it a shot.
now my question is, which preamp would you recommend between the 4061´s and my iriver?
please let me know if you think the whole idea stinks alltogether aswell!
simon

Welcome aboard!! +t for finding taperssection and posting. These questions are highly loaded because different ears hear different things. I would start searching on livemusicarchive.org for different set up w/ DPA 4061 and see which one you like best. You might have to try btetree.org, dimeadozen, or tradersden to find stealth done tapes because most LMA shows are done open.
Here is a link to search I did on LMA for you to check out:

Peace

hey thanks for the answer! i researched a bit and i think i´ll go for the church audio package with the st-9100 preamp. it is much cheaper and since i´m just starting i think it will be at least okay for me...
thank you and peace-simon
